Sony raises PlayStation 5 pricing across the globe, but not in the US
Gamers who've yet to get the PS5 may have to pay more for the console when they do buy it. Sony Interactive Entertainment has raised the console's prices in select markets due to "challenging economic conditions," president and CEO Jim Ryan has announced on the PlayStation blog. The company had to make the difficult decision, he said, due to high global inflation rates, as well as currency fluctuations. PlayStation fans in the US can breathe easy — there will be no price hikes in the US for now.

A YouTuber built his own PS5 Slim that's less than an inch thick
Sony typically follows up its PlayStation consoles with a slim version a few years later, but that time hasn't come for the PS5 yet. While we all wait for a slimmer PS5 that would fit in small spaces better, a YouTuber called DIY Perks already built one for himself. He took apart a standard PlayStation 5 and replaced everything that needed to be replaced to get rid of the console's bulk. He substituted components with similar parts and his own home-made creations, including the console's rather voluminous casing, to come up with a device that's just 1.9 centimeters thick.

Horizon Forbidden West: how a PS5 graphics showcase scales down to PS4
We first saw Horizon Forbidden West at the climax of the PlayStation 5 games reveal showcase, a fitting 'just one more thing' to an effectively debut for Sony's vision for the new console's launch window. It looked phenomenal, it possessed detail beyond anything we'd seen in the prior generation, but a key question had to be asked: how could Guerrilla Games deliver something this good with a title that also had to run on the standard PlayStation 4? PS5 players look set for a major backwards compatibility update
PlayStation 3 games have started showing up across the PlayStation 5 store, fuelling speculation that Sony will begin making the games available for consumers across the platform in the near future. As originally spotted by VGC, the PS5 currently supports backward compatibility on PS4 titles, however, only allows access to certain PS3 games via Sony's PlayStation Now service. For the moment, any PS3 games on the PS5 store similarly direct players towards the PlayStation Now version of the game, like Bejeweled, Dead Or Alive 5 and Prince of Persia.
