Scientist uses AI to create fantastic new Pokémon
Maybe this is a BuzzFeed-worthy article, but that's exactly where this post originated from. Max Woolf, Data Scientist at Buzzfeed, started playing with AI in order to create some memes, he was testing a script to read all existing Pokémon and then create new Pokémon with the collected data.

Pokémon at 25 is stronger than ever
Before I came to work at Engadget, I worked as an Associate Editor for The Pokémon Company for five years. It was always a bit weird trying to explain what I did back then, because I’d always get “oh, is that still around, I thought that was just a fad” comments, and I’d have to explain that no, it was still very much a thing.

Team Rocket is now prepared to fight Pokémon Go trainers
We hope you're prepared for trouble, because you can now fight Team Rocket grunts in Pokémon Go. Niantic has started rolling out the update it promised a week ago, adding dark-colored PokéStops with the Team Rocket logo at various locations in the game. Just spin the stop to fight a grunt's shadow Pokémon and capture the poor, abandoned monster with a Poké ball after you beat its heartless trainer.

Scientists Find the Part of the Brain That Remembers Pokémon
Kids who grew up obsessively playing handheld Pokémon games have a vast neurological Pokédex in the middle of their brains, according to a new study. 'Pokémon: Let's Go!' Takes You Back to '90s Nintendo Bliss
For many of us former kids who grew up mostly indoors in the 1990s, hearing the familiar chirps, buzzes, and pika pikas! of a first-generation Pokémon game can really rattle up some memories. Like that family vacation to Niagara Falls when I missed the entirety of Earth’s greatest natural wonder because I was too busy trying to evolve my Wartortle. Or that summer when my older brother stole my copy of Pokémon Blue, took it to band camp, and returned with all my Pokémon leveled up to 100 and creatively renamed after genitals (Blastoise was simply “Penis”).

Hold the phone: All 151 Generation One Pokemon are getting plush toys
One of my favorite places to visit in Disney World is the main store at Epcot's Japan Pavilion. It's a lovely place filled with food, toys, and plenty of video game/anime paraphernalia -- with a micro history museum to boot. Oh, and it's always packed with Pokemon (and Dragon Ball) merch year after year.

Pokemon Go Might Be Affected by Major US Military Exercise
Pokemon Go players in some western parts of the United States may have spotty service thanks to a major military operation. The US Air Force has launched its largest-ever version of the annual aerial war games known as "Red Flag." The war games are based out of the Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas, but most of the tests will take place over the huge Nevada Test and Training Range, a huge 4,500 square foot track of land in the Nevada desert.

Instead of Banning Lzzy Cheaters, Pokémon Go Trolls Them
NOW THAT THE generalized Pokémon Go craze has subsided, the more captivating effort to catch ‘em all may be game developer Niantic’s ongoing battle against cheaters. Its latest evolution: Not banning bad actors, but banishing them to poké-purgatory. As detailed by Pokémon Go enthusiast subreddit The Silph Road, a recent Pokémon Go update targets players who use bots to trawl the globe for valuable Pokémon...
