I was a little surprised Twilight's old quarters were left untouched, since it seems to be on castle grounds with all the guards and servants. But then again they are probably just for Celestia's personal student and no one disturbs it for privacy, hence the special key. The same kinda with the science lab, why does it look abandoned?
Contrasting this, the lightheartedness of Twilight's old friends is hilarious, nothing but good memories. No one ever had any bad thoughts about her leaving, well excluding Moon Dancer. It was interesting to see what Twilight could have become and I liked the message that friendships can weather a lot of things and even can be rekindled.
I was surprised the Twilight's old place was untouched too! I guess it could be an unimportant building? I was thinking the science lab was just empty because no one was attending classes. College campuses look like that during times when no one has classes.
I thought it was interesting that they were almost implying that Moon Dancer is what Twilight would have become if not for her being sent away. I also loved that they kept making references to past episodes where we see Minuette.
Oh man, it would be like owning a penthouse next to times square. Rarity went nuts when she heard she'd stay in the castle, and it basically opened her all the doors to higher society. The prestige it comes with is also undeniable.
I liked how they explained that you see them in a bunch of episodes. "Well, Lyra lives in Ponyville now, so we're always over there visiting her, and vice versa." I also appreciated all the callouts to Episode 1/2, not to mention that Pinkie knew Colgate from being at Cadance's wedding. The writers seem to be taking more of an interest in continuity lately.
Really interesting that they used Moon Dancer as an illustration of what Twilight's life would have been had she stayed in Canterlot and never met the other Mane 6.
Love the callbacks, too! I remember M. A. Larson mentioning in a season 3 (?) interview that he usually kept up with the continuity, and he came back for season 5.
I mean, we are talking about the man who sat through the first seasons just to make a complete list of all the background ponies. He mentioned it somewhere when Slice of Life aired. You just have to respect that level of dedication.
On a semi-related note, I can't wait to see if they are going to poke the fandom with Lyra and Bon Bon even more, the flower incident discussion was hilarious to follow.
Also, I can smell the Pinkette ships from way over here. Now we just wait...

Imagine the rent that she could have been getting for that prime Canterlot real estate!
