George Michael returns to the top 10 album charts
George Michael’s untimely demise sure brought back a few oldies but goodies to the top 10 list. His greatest hits collection, Ladies & Gentlemen, which was first released in 1998 made its huge comeback to the top 10 album chart after the 53-year-old artist passed away on Christmas day this year. Michael Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, said: "The sudden and terribly sad death of George Michael has naturally prompted his fans to re-explore his rich catalogue again, paying tribute to his incredible talent, both as a solo artist and founder of Wham!."

Celebrating 'Revolver': Beatles' First On-Purpose Masterpiece
1966: the most manic of the Beatlemania years. The lads get chased around the world, playing 25-minute sets that have nothing to do with the increasingly complex music they're exploring in the studio. A long-forgotten John quote about religion – "We're more popular than Jesus now" – gets dug up and creates a scandal in America. A Ku Klux Klan protest outside their Memphis show draws 8,000 people. The butcher cover gets censored. The drugs get heavier – Paul dabbles in cocaine, John dabbles in acid.

The 50 Most Anticipated Albums of 2016
By now, you are probably sick of recapping 2015. But looking back at the year, one thing that sticks out is how many of Consequence of Sound’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2015 didn’t actually come out. Some, like Rihanna’s Anti and Kanye West’s Swish, could be dropping at any moment. Others, like Chromatics’ Dear Tommy and Frank Ocean’s next album, seem just as far away now as they did this time last year. And still others, like the long-anticipated...

The 50 Best Albums of 2015
2015 saw some highly anticipated returns by some of our favorite artists—Sleater-Kinney, Wilco, Kendrick Lamar, Father John Misty, Sufjan Stevens—but what perhaps what was most notable about this year in music was the amount of remarkable debut albums from new artists. Leon Bridges, Tobias Jesso Jr, Beach Slang, Palehound and Natalie Prass all wowed us with their very first full-length efforts—a reason to celebrate this year’s work but also...
