How Much Trash Is on Mount Everest?
Mount Everest has a mountain of a problem: human waste. And not just leftover camping meals, beer and fuel cans, but human poo, too. So, how much poopy and other garbage calls the planet's highest mountain home? A Tech Times story describes the mountain as "the world's highest garbage dump." But Alton Byers, a mountain geologist at the Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado Boulder...

Hvannadalshnukur, Iceland.
I was really never so close to a glacier. The only time I've seen a glacier before, was in Norway a few months ago, but only from the distance. This time, I could stand right next to it. It was absolutely breathtaking and incredible. This place was weirdly quiet. But every now and then, the ice cracked and big chunks of ice broke off and fell into the glacier lagoon. I will never forget this sound in my head. It is so unique, as nothing else I've ever heard in my life. Another thing I loved about Hvannadalshnúkur, is the contrast of the green mountains, the blue white glacier and the brown water. So many natural contrasts in one place.

Avalanche fears over unauthorised Everest helicopter flights
Helicopter firms are carrying out unauthorised sightseeing flights over the upper reaches of Mount Everest, Nepalese officials say. Sherpas have expressed concerns that vibrations caused by the helicopters could trigger avalanches. Tourist flights are not allowed to places above Base Camp which is at an altitude of 5,364 metres (17,600ft). But helicopter companies say they only overfly sights like the Khumbu Icefall and their flights are allowed.
