    Denali: A Portrait

Denali (also known as Mount McKinley, its former official name) is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet (6,190 m) above sea level. At some 18,000 ft (5,500 m), the base-to-peak rise is the largest of any mountain situated entirely above sea level.

Nobody Reached the Top of Mount Everest in 2015

For the first time since 1974, nobody climbed to the top of Mount Everest last year. In spite of being the subject of a major movie, the world's tallest peak remained untouched by human beings, as a series of tragedies and avalanches led to the mountain being effectively shut off. Commercial organisations were stopped from bringing expeditions to the mountain, in the aftermath of the horrific earthquake that killed thousands in Nepal in April 2015.

    Rainbow in the Himalayas

We all were reluctant to rush back down to rainy Khumbu valley after experiencing a stunning sunrise behind the Everest from a hill-top in freezing cold. So, we took more stops than usual on our way back and were gifted by this rare optical phenomena around Nuptse summit- a Circumhorizontal arc (combined with a 22° hallo around the Sun). It took around 5 minutes for it to properly illuminate, but made the sense of spectacular Himalayas even more spectacular!

    The Himalayas from 20,000 ft.

Teton Gravity Research release the first ultra HD footage of the Himalayas shot from above 20,000 ft. with the GSS C520 system, the most advanced gyro-stabilized camera system in the world. Filmed from a helicopter with a crew flying from Kathmandu at 4,600 ft. up to 24,000 ft. on supplemental oxygen, these are some of the most stable, crisp, clear aerial shots of these mountains ever released, which include Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse.
