Lawyer Eric Paulsen confirmed today that Bersih 2.0 chair Maria Chin Abdullah will be detained for 28 more days under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012, or Sosma, in addition to the initial 24 hours since Friday afternoon. N. Korean diplomats meet with ex-US officials in Malaysia
A North Korean delegation led by its deputy foreign minister held talks with former government officials of the United States here for a second day on Saturday to discuss pending issues such as the North’s nuclear and missile tests. The US-North Korea contact, although it is informal or unofficial, came after North Korea conducted its fifth and most powerful nuclear test in September, just eight months after its previous nuke test.

Leonardo DiCaprio to return any funds linked to Malaysian 1MDB fraud
Leonardo DiCaprio is aiding the investigation into a Malaysian embezzlement scam linked to his hit film The Wolf of Wall Street, according to his spokesperson on Tuesday. The Hollywood star contacted the US justice department in July just after it filed a lawsuit to seize more than US$1bn in allegedly ill-gotten assets tied to Malaysian state investment fund 1MDB, including rights to the film, DiCaprio’s spokesperson said.

The captain of missing flight MH370 practiced crashing into the Indian Ocean on a simulated “suicide route” less than a month before his plane disappeared, police documents have revealed. Pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah used an elaborate home-made flight simulator to trial run paths out into the remote southern Indian Ocean before his plane vanished under very similar circumstances.

MH370 Search to Be Suspended as New Evidence Hints the Flight Glided
The official search is nearly over while amateurs comb beaches to look for more debris. Already their efforts have turned up pieces of wing that show the plane didn't nosedive into the ocean. Officials from Malaysia, Australia, and China have come as close as they could to saying that the greatest mystery in modern aviation, the disappearance of Malaysia Flight 370, will remain unsolved. Meeting in Kuala Lumpur they said, “In the absence of new evidence [the three countries] have collectively decided to suspend the search upon completion of the 120,000 square kilometer (46,332 square mile) search area.”

A promising young Australian goalkeeper has died in hospital after he was struck by lightning during a training session in Malaysia last month. Stefan Petrovski, 18, had been in intensive care following the freak accident in Malacca on April 5.
