Thank you for the response, it's cool to have dialogue on this and also it's helping me understand what snapzu is intended to be achieving as a service. Firstly, yes, of course I understand you don't want one person to post their new snap to 100 places, but why would you not want 100 people tagging a snap to different relevant tribes as they see it? Which I guess brings us on to the main point. And firstly, let me make sure I understand you correctly with a quote from what you linked -
Snap Mirroring
Tribe leadership will gain the ability to mirror snaps directly into their tribe if the tribe was not included in the original post. This will allow new or established tribes to build up their content as well as provide additional engagement to the snaps being mirrored. Functionality protecting snap posters will assure any tribe leadership abusing the snap mirroring feature can banned from mirroring additional snaps. (More details on this will be released as we get closer to its completion)
So, what we are talking about is if I was the leader of /t/deepdream, I would be able to mirror this snap. But I am not the tribe leader, I am just a bread and butter member and, in fact, I was looking to make the first post to the tribe's stream as the leader doesn't seem to have done anything beyond claiming the tribe as of yet. So is that one of the key differences here? Tribes are more mod reliant on the actual content? I have a feeling that's not the case, but I'm just saying that's what I'd deduce given this information.
FYI – there is no chief in that tribe yet. Snapzu telling you it exists is not the same as it having been claimed. Can you see the sidebar? There's a little blue button with a flag that says "claim." If you can't see it, try zooming out a bit or making your window wider.
As of the next update, it would appear that the most effective course of action would be to PM the chief of the tribe. Of course, this is not intuitive. The alternative is to rehost/repost which would be allowed but is not in the spirit of the rules.
Perhaps there could be an option in the future for a strictly limited number of mirrors/tribe adds from an existing post from a regular user. It might be that there are, say, three additional 'tribe slots' per snap that can only be filled by users of a certain level (as quality/spamming is obviously a concern). If you wanted to suggest something like this to the admin team, you can do so in /t/ideasforsnapzu.
I'm still trying to ascertain the whole "bug or feature"-ness of this before I put it forwards as a suggestion. I think I simply do not understand the issue with reposts and x-posts; they've never caused me a headache on other sites, and at least here they become aggregated in to one post. All this jumping through hoops just to make a community system works seems like the far inferior option.
So, I guess the question I am asking is - what's the deal with airplane food?
Sorry, I mean, what's the problem with reposting and x-posting? Why is so much effort being put in to avoiding this?
There's a sticky at the top explaining the tags. I'd suggest [Features] or [Site Behaviour]. Don't worry though, no one will get upset if you use the wrong one. I've made a ton of suggestions there in the last few days. :)
I think the reposting thing is just to maintain the quality of the site. TBH, if you have a case for changing it, post the suggestion and let the community vote on it and see what the admins' approach is. I do think, though, that a functional solution to xposting or similar is superior to duplication of the snap.
