We needed to run electric wires under the road ...

We were switching the power at this work site to 3-phase and they needed new wires and they didn't want to run them overhead. So we hired this guy and he came with this sweet machine. He sits on it — he's probably a hundred yards from the electric box on the other side of the road — and he starts drilling into the ground. When he gets to a certain depth the drill levels out and he keeps going. Obviously he can't see where it's going, but somehow he knows. And every so far this machine automatically adds another piece of pipe. He does this until he pops out on the other side of the road. Then he attaches the wires and pulls them back through. It was amazing. So I said to him, "Dude, that's pretty amazing." And he says to me, "Yeah, it's mostly ... boring." Cracked me up. I bet he pulls that joke out, at least, once a week.
