Do you read before going to bed, or even read in bed?

The reason I asked, I am slowly, but most certainly losing that joy.

call me old fashioned but I still read a novel before bed, I read the news and analysis and work stuff and email all day long so I need something that doesn't glow.

Sometimes I will read an article or two on my phone before going to bed (night mode is amazing!), but generally because I sit in front of the computer most of the day, I feel as if all the things I wanted to read I can do there. After what seems to be an evening filled with a million tasks, I try and train my brain to just shut off when my head hits the pillow most nights. When I was younger (ie. in my late teens/early 20's) I would love to have one of those old school video players on my chest watching movies. Nowadays, it's not necessarily that I don't like doing it, but more because I know I need to get a decent nights sleep.

I prefer reading than watching any movie or TV show, so yes I do read in bed. But mainly non-fiction (lots of stuff here and other places I go on).

I do, I was using a Kindle Paperwhite but it quit working and right now I'm using a Fire HD 8 (2017) because it was a cheap replacement compared to the Kindle. A bit harder on the eye but I can live with it, I try to read at least one chapter a night, I read slowly at roughly 1 page a minute but I can finish an average 400 page book in about a week and sometimes less if I do more than one chapter a day, some days I do nothing but lay in bed and read.

I have found I enjoy young adult novels because they are short, not overly hard thinking and don't necessarily need critical thinking. I prefer crime and sci-fi though and lately I've been reading historical non-fiction like The Lost City of Z and now the Lost City of the Monkey God.

I like to refrain from reading as much as possible. I've heard it should be healthier to avoid screens about 30 minutes before sleep. I don't go that far, but I'd like to.

Losing the joy or losing the time before Morpheus attends to you?

I'm kind of old fashioned, this idea of curling up in a bed, or on a favorite couch or chair to read a real book, well this I miss greatly. And Morpheus, this never sleeping attendant waits patiently to fill the time before awakening once again.
