Actually that decision was the reason I made the change to snapzu. As an administrative decision, it seemed icky. Like something YouTube or Facebook would implement without any feedback whatsoever. I always thought of reddit as the exception to the rule, the rule being "admins will make decisions, and if people don't like it, tough shit." Looks like reddit is just as susceptible to this practice as any other website.
I figured that I might as well kickstart the competition.
That's a lot of negative people, what were they thinking?
Ignorant move reddit, that was one of your core features.
I'm glad it happened otherwise I'd never have found out about this place.
Was there a thread? I honestly thought I'd see people pushing snapzu after it happened but didn't see any posts.
I was just surprised to know that the vote counts that were displayed were inflated and not actual counts anyway.
I'm also here after being motivated to look for an alternative to reddit. Some admins there have argued quite capably that it hasn't even been driven by business considerations, which makes it even more puzzling.
Those 2 little question marks and the drive to find out more about them led me here to Snapzu as well. "The only constant is change". Ok yeah, I agree with the need for constant growth and change. Unless said change only benefits the few over the community as a whole, then I take issue and seek out other options.
