Let's have this avenue for discussing the Panama Papers
In case you haven't heard, there was a HUGE information leak from a Panamanian law firm that specializes in setting up shell companies that may or may not be used for tax evasion purposes, money laundering, funding terrorism, human trafficking, and all sorts of bad stuff.
So far there have been a lot of big names that are implicated by this and the list will keep growing. There are over 11 MILLION documents for journalists to go through!
I'll keep checking back here periodically to get new information and let you guys know if I learn any new information.
Also, for some reason, there is almost zero coverage of this in American media for some reason...

Which American media outlets were connected to the ICIJ and were investigating the Panama Papers? The exclusivity of the report seems to be of the ones which directly participated of the group.
So far, it seems like the Miami Herald is one of the connected media outlets.

To the question of why American outlets haven't provided much coverage, here's the New York Times' Public Editor's response to reader complaints that they were not providing 'lead story' coverage of the Panama Papers.
Will the US information come out before or after election day?
I hope it comes out sooner than that.
I would like to think that the news would come out before the election. But if the top runners in the us election are implicated in any way the news will not follow it. The candidates themselves will also cover each others back in the name of a "Clean Election". It would have to be up to the constant nagging of social media to pull in news and media outlets before there would be a turn in the news cycle. That turn can be very quick or slow depending if a new season of "OW! My Balls!" is on.
It's gonna take a long time for media outlets that weren't directly involved to get through this report. It was like two terabytes, 10 or 11 million individual files, in other words, it was freakin huge. Media outlets are going to have to vet that at least a little before they start any serious reporting on it.
