I was quietly a 5 year Redditor who made the mistake of disagreeing with a poster who was going on and on about an overweight woman. He was vehement in his disgust and was eager to brag how he put that 'fat cow' in her place. Not only was my overview swarmed by the down-vote brigade, but the PM's I received were greatly disturbing. Seriously, threaten to rip my face off because I don't think it's cool to 'call out' someone who is overweight? Never ever say on Reddit anything supporting a 'fat' person. You will be destroyed. That was my final straw. Everything /u/IridescentOak said also contributed, but being vilified for not hating fat was my final straw.
Reddit is brutal when it comes to fat people. They either think 100% "fat for life, fuck you and your skinny privilege" or 100% "being overweight is like being hitler". They just cannot find a middle-ground. That's another thing I dislike now about reddit. They are so fucking polarized on every issue its annoying. Reddit does not allow any middleground for anything. If you don't pick a side you are betraying both.
