Is content in languages other than English tolerated here?

I'm wondering since Snapzu currently doesn't support content in languages other than English well as of now, there's a tribe for discussing how Snapzu should support other languages (in content, tribes, comments and user preferences).

This tribe, happy to discuss movies from outside the US, seems borderline appropriate for it, but would most of its members accept to see content (interviews, reviews, movie trailers) in other languages?

I just posted this snap, that's what made me wonder.

Missed a lot of that discussion when it happened. Thought, offhand, that the language support that I had seen being discussed was about different script systems, or features like diacritical support in search or something. Links above show otherwise.

Surprised that people would downvote snaps for not being in English when the snap title is so clearly not in English either. Obviously, people don’t always give a reason for their downvotes, but would’ve thought downvotes for not being in English would be treated like those for re-posts, so that no harm is done to the posters’ reputation. Better yet, maybe don’t downvote what you can’t read, right?

Implications that Snapzu seems to have taken seriously, like other languages being used to get away with sneaky pranks, I might’ve counted on a broad user community and ordinary site mechanics to contain. Then again, I’m not hosting the site, and I’ve not given it the thought our hosts have. That said, I’ve joined this tribe if for no other reason than to support the sentiment behind this snap. Haven’t got the language fluency , or the vocabularies, to engage capably, but I prefer to live in a world larger than English alone.

The admins have disabled the "This is not in English" reason for downvote as a result of the linked discussion, and it didn't count towards the reputation meter of the user anyway, but many people were offended enough from the general answers it all generated to leave Snapzu.

The /t/Quebec tribe is all but empty now following this thread. It may seem trivial, but we (French Quebecers) have already been told to "speak white" all throughout our history, from the conquest of 1760 up to the general emancipation of the French speaking population during the quiet revolution of 1960-80. This is a very heated debate in Quebec, and it influenced much of the rest of Canada as well. It's no wonder Quebec tried twice to secede from Canada (in 1980 and in 1995).

I myself decided to stick around Snapzu, because I believe in the good faith of its admins, I like the community, and I believe we can't ever have our voices heard if we don't collaborate and work to make things better, instead of quitting as soon as some linguistic friction occurs.
