Why not just link to an IRC in the sidebar?
Edit: apologies, disregard that - I am forgetting the broad scope of this tribe. You're right, to have that integrated would be a great feature.
I think a link that pop-ups instead of leading to a new tab. Although I wouldn't want it to affect my daily routine of checking snapzu.
