EU warns Poland that it has 24 hours to start taking in refugees
The EU has issued a 24-hour warning to Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland saying that they have to start taking in refugees under an EU migrant-sharing plan. The European Commission said in a statement that it has repeatedly urged them to relocate refugees or at least pledge to do so under the legally-binding refugee plan agreed two years ago.

Large protest in support of Hungary's Soros-backed university
Thousands of people have taken part in a protest in Hungary to demand the abolition of laws which could force the closure of one of the country's most prestigious universities. New rules introduced by the government mean the Central European University (CEU) would be unable to award diplomas because it is registered in the US. The university was founded by philanthropist George Soros. The legislation has already been rushed through parliament.

Hungary’s parliament has approved the automatic detention of all asylum seekers in container camps on the southern borders, dismissing concerns from human rights groups. The legislation, approved by a large majority of politicians, was created in response to recent terrorist attacks in Europe carried out by migrants, the hardline prime minister, Viktor Orbán, has said.

Sixteen dead, many Hungarian teenagers, in Italy bus accident - police
Sixteen people were killed and about 40 were injured when a bus carrying Hungarian students burst into flames on a highway in northern Italy, police and the fire service said on Saturday. The number of victims could rise to 18, "but certainly no more than that", the Hungarian consul in Italy Judit Timaffy told reporters in the city of Verona. The bus went off the road near a highway exit close to Verona overnight. The local highway police chief said it was carrying mostly teenage students, teachers and parents.

Hungary's right-wing leader is hoping to "give the finger" to the European Union on Sunday in a nationwide referendum over immigration, according to experts. Viktor Orban's government is urging voters to reject an EU plan requiring countries to welcome a quota of migrants who have traveled from the Middle East and beyond. Jean Asselborn, Luxembourg’s foreign has shown that Jean-Claude Juncker is not the only tough talking politician from the Grand Duchy. Asselborn told the German daily Die Welt that Hungary should be temporarily or even permanently expelled from the European Union over its approach to refugees and other issues. Asselborn’s comments come days before 27 EU leaders meet in Bratislava to discuss the bloc’s future. He said the EU can’t tolerate fundamental values being violated.

Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn has called for Hungary to be suspended or even expelled from the European Union because of its "massive violation" of EU fundamental values. He cited the Budapest government's treatment of refugees, independence of the judiciary and freedom of the press. "Hungary is not far away from issuing orders to open fire on refugees," he suggested.

Camerawoman who 'tripped refugees' in Hungary faces charges
Hungarian prosecutors have filed charges against a camerawoman accused of kicking and tripping refugees fleeing police near the southern border with Serbia last year. Petra Laszlo was fired from her job at N1TV, a television station with nationalist sympathies, after video footage spread online appearing to show her kicking a girl and a young man. Her prosecution for disorderly conduct comes as political tensions mount over Europe’s migration crisis in the region.

BATINA, Croatia (AP) — Croatian leaders put the army on alert after chaos erupted Thursday on the border with Serbia, where thousands of asylum-seekers poured into the country, some trampling each other in a rush to get on the few available buses and trains. Dozens were injured in the mayhem.
