I've never tried UV filtration (but definitely on the bucket list), but I'm currently using an in-line crypto filter for my Geigerrig. The whole setup has been nothing short of amazing, especially once the plastic taste stopped bleeding into the water! If interested, here's the description.
I like that it has a carbon filter on it. How long did it take for the plastic taste to go away? Not a show stopper by any means, but it's nice to know.
It was about two months (probably used about 10 times during that period). Once I soaked the bladder in water with baking soda, things definitely improved!
