Hi and thanks for your answer! Clematis sounds good, because that describes my situation exactly. The bottom of the trellis is shaded, but after about 1 1/2 feet, it starts to get direct sunlight. Yes, I am looking for something that will stay outside all winter. The winters here aren't severe. Semi-occasional snow, with temperatures varying +/- 5 degrees of freezing (Fahrenheit).
