EA Cutting Battlefront II Heroes Unlock Costs By 75 Percent
The backlash to Star Wars: Battlefront II's hero unlocking has been swift and fierce since the game went into EA Access this past weekend, prompting the publisher to make drastic cuts to the costs of new heroes by 75% in an update being sent out today. Newly posted on EA's Battlefront II blog, the update confirms the new prices for the major heroes were partly decided upon after seeing feedback from the EA Access trial.

10 minutes of Secret of Mana remake co-op gameplay
Square Enix debuted 10 minutes of local cooperative gameplay from its upcoming Secret of Mana remake during the game’s first official live stream today. The action RPG will support co-op for up to three players offline. Online co-op will not be supported. Secret of Mana is due out as a digital-only release for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC worldwide on February 15, 2018. In Japan, the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions will also be released physically.

Marvel Heroes Players Are Demanding Refunds For In-Game Purchases
A Marvel Heroes player who goes by EITTurtle bought the game on Xbox in July. Since then, he says he's sunk $US400 ($529) in microtransactions, unlocking characters such as Spider Man, Storm and Captain America. Earlier this week, Marvel announced that the game's servers will be shut down in December. And EITTurtle, like many other players, is now begging for a refund.

Last week an interview with CD Projekt RED’s studio president Adam Kicinski appeared to suggest Cyberpunk 2077 could be going the multiplayer or games as a service route, although it appears something may have been lost in translation. Now the official Twitter account has stepped in confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 will be a single-player, story-driven RPG with no hidden catches.

This Dumb Industry: No, We Didn’t Beat EA
So over the past week the big story has been the massive backlash against EA for the loot box mechanics on Star Wars: Battlefront II. According to some very conservative estimates, it would take 40 hours of continuous play to unlock Darth Vader as a playable character. This is assuming you save every single point of in-game currency and don’t spend any of them on other things. Then you’d need another 40 hours to unlock Luke Skywalker. Even if you’re just going to save up for a simple loot box, it will take three hours of play.

Square Enix will not add microtransactions to its single-player games
Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda told MCV that the company does not plan to implement microtransactions to its “console” games. Yosuke Matsuda claimed that players have different expectations for console – and PC – games and microtransactions simply do not fit. “The way that console games are made, the volume of content, and how much effort goes into them, there’s something in that which doesn’t fit in the mind with microtransactions.”

With CD Projekt Red only showing gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 to the media behind-closed-doors at E3 and Gamescom this year, gamers have been dying to get a first look at what’s next from the developer of The Witcher and Gwent. Thankfully, CDPR hosted a mysterious stream on Twitch earlier today entitled “DATA TRANSMISSION IN PROGRESS_” and after 9 hours of cryptic code running on the screen, the devs finally revealed what everyone has been wanting years to see: 48-minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay.
