Back in the 80's playing video games was a harsh experience. When it worked, our commodore 64 was difficult to operate, and constantly being hogged by my older brother. When the Nintendo console came out, it was far from consoling; games like Rambo and Rygar were ruthless and unnerving. I know, "suck it up wuss!" Yeah, but telling an 8 year old why you have to start over from the beginning, after playing 6 straight hours was cataclysmic. But this all changed for me the day we received our first game genie. Gaming at this point became something that I wanted it to be, not a challenge, not an adrenaline rush, but something casual that I can enjoy. Gaming became a world that I can elope and get stranded to let loose, and return on my own accord.
