I'd been playing games most of my life from Apple ][e / C64 etc onwards. It wasn't until I met my partner in the late 90's when things got serious. Zelda: Link to the Past blew me away. I was a traditional RPG fan, but this added a new spin to it. Ever since then I can say that games have been a fairly central part of my life... what given that I'm an achievement farmer, I don't think it's ruined anything... much.
LTTP was the game that got me into RPG games. It's still absolutely perfect in every way, and I replay it every 3-5 years. Same goes for Super Metroid.
I remember flying to Singapore once. There was a SNES in the back of the head rest and LTTP was on it. I was like HELL YEAH! but then I realised that I'd have to stop so I didn't even start. Forgot what I played that flight.
Wasn't a metroid fan (didn't play it that much), GF is to an extent, that and Battletoads.
