Sell me on the PS4

I am currently on the fence on xbox one and PS4. Have equal friends on both and am equal on exclusives. Any way you guys can help me decide?

If you're equal on exclusives and friends, then there are several more things to take into account.

The biggest one for me, is the processing power of the PS4. It's not just a matter of having exclusives. The multi-platform games consistently look and perform better on the PS4 than the Xbone.

Another thing to look at is price. From what I'm seeing, the Xbone is about 50 dollars cheaper; but it really depends where you are planning on purchasing it from.

Playstation Plus is something that's typically not looked at when deciding between the two consoles. It is required to play online, similar to how xbox has done it since last generation. The coolest thing about Playstation plus, is they have two free PS4 games, two free PS3 games, and two Vita games every month for you to download and play for as long as you have the subscription. A lot of those games work on other platforms, as well. Some months PS4 will have 4 or 5 games instead of just two. It's really fun for me, as it gets me playing games I otherwise would be uninterested in.

Look into the features of each console. An example: I know Xbone is implementing a function of streaming gameplay to your Windows 10 PC. PS4 does a similar thing to the PS Vita.

What questions do you have about the console itself? I'd be glad to answer. :)

I actually do have a few questions. How is PS+ any different from Xbox's deals with Gold? Secondly how is the UI? Does it lag?

I haven't used Xbox's deals with Gold, but here's what I've gathered previously. If I'm wrong and someone wants to chime in and correct me, feel free. As far as I know though, here's the main differences:

Xbox's deals with Gold has three games per month. They release one Xbone game at the start of the month, which you can get any time during the month. They also release one 360 game at the start of the month to the 15th, and then a second from the 16th to the end of the month. You get to keep the 360 game even if your membership lapses. Xbone games must have an active membership to play.

PS+ offers two PS4 games, two PS3 games, and two Vita games per month. Typically, a handful of them are multiplatform games; so you can have several extra for any given console each month. All of the games require an active membership to play.

The PS4 UI is really clean and quick. It's worked excellently for me. While I miss several aspects of the PS3 UI, I think it's a move forward in most respects. I've never noticed any UI lag until recently, during playing Arkham Knight and pressing the PS button to move through the menus. I'm not sure if that was a fluke. Outside of that though, I've never noticed lags or slowdowns like the PS3 did, when you were playing a game.

Can you listen to music in game?

Yes, you definitely can. The coolest new update for me brought Spotify to the PS4. There's just something special about playing your own music while cruising the streets of Los Santos.

This is the truth right here. Playstation Plus should seal the deal. For what it offers, it really costs little extra money (15€ for three months in Germany).

By the way, Rocket League is released for free tomorrow on PS+.

I believe it's 60 dollars for a year in the US; and 40 dollars on sale, if you catch it from someone other than PSN themselves.

O...M....G....Rocket League. This game came out of nowhere for me. I can't wait!

I must say I'm a little bit disappointed of Driveclub's "Playstation Plus Edition", which is essentially nothing more than a demo, but then again Driveclub is a disappointing game overall. Rocket League will make me forget that, though.

The PS+ Edition of Driveclub has been a clusterfuck from the beginning. I mean...how late is it now? It's incredibly embarrassing, IMO. I'm not all that surprised to see how limited it is.

Rocket League though....this one's going to be amazing.
