Record Missouri flooding was manmade calamity, scientist says
At the end of December 2015, a huge storm named "Goliath" dumped 9-10 inches of rain in a belt across the central United States, centered just southwest of St. Louis, most of it in a three-day downpour. The rain blanketed the Meramec Basin, an area of 4,000 square miles drained by the Meramec River, which enters the Mississippi River south of St. Louis.

Posting negative images or rumours about the recent flooding could be punished under the country's cybercrime laws, the interior ministry said. When the River Rises: The Wimberley Floods of 2015
The Wimberley fire chief pulled on his tactical boots and stepped out into the rain. He climbed into his pickup truck and drove down a bluff, toward the river. Chief Carroll Czichos could have found his way there blindfolded. He was 62, with blue eyes and gray hair, and had lived along the Blanco River all his life. He knew its rhythms well enough to predict with surprising accuracy when the river would rise. The Blanco, after all, ran right through Texas’s “Flash Flood Alley,” one of the most notorious floodplains in the country.

Paris shuts Louvre museum to evacuate artworks as flood waters rise
Officials have closed Paris's Louvre museum so its priceless artworks can be moved to safety amid the threat of flooding from the nearby River Seine. The Musée d'Orsay, on the opposte bank of the river, also closed early on Thursday night as a precautionary measure. The Louvre will remain closed on Friday to allow staff to evacuate tens of thousands of “reserve” paintings and sculptures in its underground store rooms.
