Navy Finds Dog That Fell Into Ocean 5 Weeks Ago
A dog who fell off a fishing boat in the Pacific Ocean and had been "presumed dead" more than a month ago has now been found alive by Navy officials on an island 80 miles off the coast of San Diego, California. The 1-year-old German Shepherd, named Luna, was first reported missing the morning of Feb. 10 about 2 miles off of San Clemente Island by her owner -- Nick Hayworth, a fisherman -- according to Sandy DeMunnik, public affairs officer for the US Navy's Naval Base Coronado.

A penguin literally swims across an ocean every year just to see the Brazilian man who saved him
In 2011, a retired bricklayer and part-time fisherman found a starving, oil-covered penguin lying on his local beach in southeast Brazil. Joao Pereira de Souza, 71, scooped up the bird and took him home. He cleaned the bird, fed him, and named him Dindim. When Dindim was strong enough, Pereira de Souza took him back to the sea. Jamie Foxx saved someone from a burning car last night, but he's staying modest about it. The Oscar-winning actor told reporters on Tuesday that he only did what felt natural. "I'm not a hero," he said, "but had to do something." Foxx, 48, pulled a man -- who was allegedly driving under the influence -- from a burning car last night after an accident took place near his Los Angeles-area home, a member of Foxx's team confirmed to ABC News today. 97-year-old Michigan woman receives high school diploma
A 97-year-old woman has received an honorary diploma from a Michigan high school, eight decades after she was forced to drop out to help her family. Margaret Thome Bekema finally was able to don a mortarboard and fulfill her lifelong goal in front of her friends and family on Thursday. We can't think of a dog who deserves it more. As members of Texas Task Force 1, Bretagne and her mom/handler Denise Corliss had an intense first deployment. They joined nearly 100 other search and rescue dogs to find and save people trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center after 9/11. They’ve had an unshakable bond ever since.

Instead of temporarily laying off his 50 workers, Jeff Glover shocked his staff by continuing to pay them during the entire five months the restaurant would be closed. Glover even gave them a $1-per-hour raise for sticking with him.
