With Bethesda’s latest RPG just days away from launch, the Fallout 76 file size and day-one patch has been revealed. As you can see from the screenshots below, you’ll need to make space on your hard-drive for a whopping 96.6GB.

Fallout 76 is out and the Atom Shop is well and truly open. In Bethesda’s new online multiplayer RPG, the Atom Shop is the place to go to spend your in-game currency, but the prices are a little over the top.

Not only are Bethesda games notorious for being glitchy, the company warned fans that players could expect “spectacular” bugs in Fallout 76. Most players will probably encounter some low-level jank, but some unlucky vault dwellers are encountering a specific hiccup that either ruins or enhances one of Fallout’s central gameplay mechanics, depending on how you look at it. Players are reporting that using souped-up Power Armor — equipping or storing it — will sometimes result in a bizarre issue where the character’s limbs will elongate and disfigure.

This week we learned what happens when you launch one of Fallout 76's nukes at a fissure site: you spawn a really big, high level Scorchbeast Queen and a bunch of end-game loot. Well, the players who launched that nuke decided to triple their efforts by launching three nukes, one from each of the missile silos, all at the same time. They fired their nukes and aimed them at the same spot on the map. The video above shows the triple mushroom cloud.

And now from the “some customers just aren’t crazy about losing money on a game they don’t like” department… A video has been making the rounds via social media, showing a customer attempting to get his money back on his newfound purchase of Fallout 76. Though he doesn’t disclose why, he apparently isn’t too fond of the game’s new online structure. You can watch it below.

Fallout 76 may be the most badly made video game we’ve ever seen from a major publisher. The idea of a multiplayer Fallout is perfectly fine, of course, and something that’s been planned, by more than just Bethesda, many times over the years. But given the concept’s potential the end result is baffling not only in terms of how much it gets wrong but in its haphazard implementation, resulting in a game that is not just broken on a technical level but in terms of almost all its major design decisions.

As patches go, Fallout 76's 1.02 title update is one of the biggest we've seen, weighing in at a mighty 47GB on each of the consoles - a marked difference from PC's 15GB download. In its patch notes, Bethesda talks about bug fixes and performance upgrades, but to what extent is the game actually improved over its launch showing?

It’s fair to say that major new gaming release Fallout 76 has not received the warmest of receptions. The reviews from fans and critics alike started off tentatively underwhelmed – and have only got more scathing from there. Meanwhile, the game’s sales are down considerably on those of Fallout 4.

A Fallout 76 player is exploring Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic world, with just one wish: to die. Brogadyn posted a story on Reddit yesterday about how their character has somehow acquired god status. No matter what the character does, she cannot die or be killed. “She can even eat a nuke blast to the face and be fine,” writes Brogadyn. “There is literally zero ways that she can die even if I wanted her to (which I very much do at this point).”

One of many disappointed Fallout 76 players contacted Bethesda for a refund on the catastrophic game. Although Bethesda promised a refund, they bailed out the next day with an unconvincing excuse.

Back on Thursday, we ran a report indicating that Bethesda was offering refunds to dejected players of the PC version of Fallout 76, with a number of them citing issues with connecting online and performance. However, a follow-up indicates that they aren’t going through with it after all.

Bethesda certainly dropped the ball on the $200 Power Armor Edition when it came to the bag quality, saying they were too expensive to make. It seems giving away high-quality Fallout 76 bags to influencers wasn't that expensive though.

If you haven't been following the Fallout 76 news, there was a rather large uproar about the duffel bag that shipped with the $200 Power Armor Edition. The bag was advertised as canvas, but it was replaced with a cheap-looking nylon version with no warning from Bethesda beforehand. Naturally, Fallout 76's biggest spenders were unhappy about this bag-switching, and Bethesda's solution of giving a measly 500 Atoms as compensation for that substandard bag just made things worse.

Bethesda has irked PC players with the new 21:9 resolution support in Fallout 76's latest patch. This week's Fallout 76 patch saw a number of changes roll out for the game, including adding ultrawide screen resolution support. However, players on Reddit have discovered that the new ultrawide mode appears to be nothing more than a modification to the INI file, meaning that 16:9 aspect ratio has been stretched to meet the wider resolution, rather than being a true 21:9 display.

It's safe to say that Fallout 76 has not had a good launch. From incorrect special edition bags to poor reviews to the state of the game itself, it's been a bad month for Bethesda PR. The only way it could be worse is if the studio was considering Fallout 76 loot boxes... and it looks like this just might happen. Despite the fact that anyone who knows the gaming industry would be able to tell Bethesda that adding loot boxes to Fallout 76 would be a very bad idea, especially right now...

A law firm has launched an investigation into Bethesda Game Studios over Fallout 76, and specifically its refund policy. The Washington D.C.-area law firm, Migliaccio & Rathod, said in a blog post that it's launched an investigation into the developer for supposedly "refusing to issue refunds for PC purchasers of the game who found it to be unplayable because of its technical problems." The law firm's blog post calls Fallout 76 a "heavily glitched game."

Bethesda’s first Fallout 76 patch this month addressed more than 150 different bugs and problems. Hot on its heels, however, is a second patch which is due to release later in January. Now, Bethesda has given fans some details about what will be included in that upcoming update. According to the studio, players should expect it by the end of the month, and it will include; “another big wave of fixes.”

Yesterday, the official Fallout Twitter account announced that leather Fallout 76 jackets were being sold in the Bethesda store. At a price of $276, the lambskin leather jacket is bright blue with yellow piping, a big 76 on the back, a small 76 on the front, and lined with "silky, shiny taffeta fabric." Deep breath: So, you probably remember the Fallout 76 'bag-gate' fiasco in which customers who purchased the $200 Fallout 76 collector's edition...

GameStop in Germany obviously can't wait to get rid of their stock of Fallout 76 copies quick enough where they've taken to giving them away for free when customers buy a used PS4 controller. GameStop in Germany is giving away free copies of Fallout 76 with every purchase of a used PS4 controller, which is a real punch in the teeth for Bethesda, but a giant win for anyone not wanting to spend a dime of the title. According to a Reddit post, there is a sign that reads – “Get Fallout 76 for free if you buy a used PS4 controller” right next to a stack of Fallout 76 cases.
