Child Marriages Form 15% of All Marriages in Egypt
Fifteen percent of all marriages in Egypt are child marriages, announced Egypt’s Minister of Population Hala Youssef on Thursday. Despite Egypt changing the legal age of marriage to 18 in 2008, child marriage continues across the country and particularly in underprivileged areas, said Youssef. Egypt staged a show of international support on Thursday as it inaugurated a major extension of the Suez Canal which President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi hopes will power an economic turnaround in the Arab world’s most populous country. Nefertiti 'was buried inside King Tut's tomb'
An archaeologist says he may have found evidence that Nefertiti, the former Queen of Egypt, is secretly buried inside Tutankhamun's tomb. The whereabouts of Nefertiti's remains are not known, although those of Tutankhamun - who may have been her son - were found in 1922. New tests have shown there may be a portal leading from King Tut's tomb. Nicholas Reeves, an archaeologist at the University of Arizona, says he believes Neferiti may lie inside.
