Amazon to deliver parcels directly to car boots
Amazon is testing an addition to its Prime subscription postal service that will see parcels delivered directly to customer’s cars. Mastercard to start using selfies as ID for online payments
Mastercard has confirmed that it is to start accepting selfies and fingerprints as an alternative to passwords when verifying IDs for online payments. The credit card firm has been testing selfie software in the US and Netherlands. Some 92 per cent of test subjects preferred the new system to passwords. Some security researchers have said that biometric checks have the potential to cut fraud, but others have warned that they might not be as secure as traditional methods.

File-Sharing Site's PayPal Account Returns After EFF Intervention

Saudi claims he invented e-commerce, intends to sue firms which use it
A Saudi man who claims he invented the concept of e-commerce during the early days of the internet says that he is talks with big firms who wish to avoid litigation for stealing his world-changing idea. “There are now undergoing negotiations with big companies inside [the kingdom] and abroad to find a solution without opting to head to international judiciary,” Faisal bin Fahd al-Osaimi told the local Saudi daily Okaz. Osaimi said he presented the concept of e-commerce to the late King Fahd in 1991, the same year the internet was born.

In April 2016, the mattress startup Casper sued three popular mattress review sites, claiming they drove business to Casper competitors without proper disclosure that these mattress brands paid sales commissions to the sites. The schemes, in Casper’s view, amounted to false advertising and deceptive practices because the sites promoted their reviews as unbiased but did not conspicuously disclose the relationships with the specific mattress makers they were recommending.

Amazon faces fines following the death of a second warehouse worker in as many months
Amazon could face $28,000 in potential fines after an inspection by the state of Indiana found potential workplace safety violations at a warehouse where a 59-year-old worker was killed in late September. The Associated Press reported that the victim, Phillip Terry of Indianapolis, “was fatally crushed when a forklift’s lift fell on him while he was doing maintenance work on it.” Terry was killed on Sept. 24 at an Amazon facility in the Indianapolis suburb of Plainfield.
