A Dallas ISD teacher who was fired because she acted in adult films more than a decade ago says she was forced into “sex slavery” and is fighting to get back her dream job helping children. Resa Woodward, 38, taught sixth-grade science at an all-girls STEAM academy at Balch Springs Middle School before she was removed from the classroom in November. She was fired after her past in adult films was exposed on social media. She is appealing her termination to the Texas Education Agency.

Officer Nick Novello worked his regular shift Saturday at the city’s central patrol station. After a quick change into his civilian clothes, he headed off to an event you wouldn’t expect to find a cop in his off time: a downtown rally calling for the legalization of marijuana. Not only did he attend, he was a featured speaker and an honored guest. “I’m here because I support you,” Novello tells the boisterous crowd of several hundred in his gravelly New York accent.

57 white supremacist gang members arrested in North Texas
Federal authorities say dozens of people associated with white-supremacist gangs in North Texas have been arrested on charges of drug trafficking and also a kidnapping that included using a hatchet to chop off the victim's finger. Authorities announced Monday that 57 people were charged in the conspiracies. Forty-two were arrested last week, nine were already in custody on unrelated charges and six others are being sought.

Woman Shoots, Kills Husband During Argument for Beating Cat
A Dallas woman shot and killed her husband Saturday for beating the family cat, police say. Forty-seven-year-old Mary Harrison told police she shot her husband, Dexter Harrison, during an argument as he was beating their cat, according to the Dallas Police Department. The shooting occured just before 7:00 a.m. in the 13200 block of Fall Manor Drive in Dallas, according to police. Dexter Harrison, 49, was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses dispute Dallas cop's account in fatal shooting of neighbor, attorney says
Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside Dallas police headquarters Monday evening to demand justice for Botham Jean, the 26-year-old who was shot inside his own apartment last Thursday by off-duty police officer Amber Guyger. Guyger has been charged with manslaughter, but demonstrators say that's not enough. Her case now heads to a grand jury where her charges could be bumped up to murder, reports CBS News' Omar Villafranca.

Dallas police officer Amber Guyger fired over Botham Jean shooting
Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who faces a manslaughter charge in the shooting death of Botham Jean, has been fired, the Police Department announced in a news release Monday. Chief Renee Hall fired Guyger, 30, during a hearing Monday morning. The news release said an internal affairs investigation concluded that Guyger "engaged in adverse conduct" when she was arrested for manslaughter for fatally shooting Jean at his South Side Flats apartment on the night of Sept. 6.
