Here is my short list of must read fantasy:
1. Mystborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.
2. Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind (The original series I'm not a fan of the follow on books)
3. American Gods by Neil Gaiman
4. As someone else said The Black Company by Glenn Cook.
