Nefertiti 'was buried inside King Tut's tomb'
An archaeologist says he may have found evidence that Nefertiti, the former Queen of Egypt, is secretly buried inside Tutankhamun's tomb. The whereabouts of Nefertiti's remains are not known, although those of Tutankhamun - who may have been her son - were found in 1922. New tests have shown there may be a portal leading from King Tut's tomb. Nicholas Reeves, an archaeologist at the University of Arizona, says he believes Neferiti may lie inside.

Egyptian security building in Cairo rocked by bomb blast
A powerful car bomb has exploded outside a state security building in northern Cairo, Egyptian security officials say. The blast, which was felt across large parts of the Egyptian capital, injured 29 people, six of them police. The explosion happened in the early hours of Thursday morning. There were no reports of any deaths. The militant group Islamic State (IS) says it carried out the attack "to avenge Muslim martyrs".

Met Office loses BBC weather forecasting contract after 93 years
The Met Office has lost the contract it has held for close to a century to provide weather forecasts to the BBC, bringing to an end one of the longest relationships in British media. The broadcaster said it was legally required to open up the contract to outside competition in order to secure the best value for licence fee payers.

BBC planning Netflix-style service for US
The BBC is planning to launch a subscription-based video streaming service in the United States. BBC director general Tony Hall said he wanted to "try out businesses that go direct to the public" to boost the income of BBC Worldwide. The new service, which could launch in 2016, will not affect agreements with other services such as Amazon and Hulu. One expert told BBC News the service would probably appeal to a "niche" audience.
