I don't have a particular anecdote, but here's a bit of me venting:
The symbols for "Play", "Pause", "Fast-Forward" and "Stop" have been the same since the 70s, with the first VCRs. And a lot of people still can't recognize them? Same for phone wiring. The RJ11 standard has been here for a while now!
