What's a genre of game you're terrible at but love to play?
For me, it would have to be racing and fighting games. I'm terrible at SkullGirls, Tekken 2-6, Soul Calibur 3-5, etc. etc., but I still play them.

Wargames. I will be playing them, and feeling like i am totally kicking ass, then a few turns later half my country has been taken over.
Survival games, like Don't Starve and Minecraft. I love the idea of building from scratch. But I can't remember the recipes to anything.
To be fair, I don't think anyone remembers all the recipes for Minecraft. I had to look up a lot of things when I was actively playing it.
For me it's definitely fighting games (Minus smash bros) so. much. button mashing.
Yeah, same here. I really tried to get into Skullgirls because I liked the art style and the pacing of that game, but the mechanics are so beyond me. It even has a very in-depth tutorial which I played through for hours but I still ended up mashing buttons because holy shit how am I supposed to remember a sequence of 50 buttons to push with exact timing to pull off that one combo?
its the same for me with any fighting game. Im great at them until I play online. I try to limit my time with fighting games, If I do play them, I either play alone or with my brothers. They seem to be the only ones I can actually beat.
RTS (real time strategie). I'm fairly decent at turn-based game but I can't micro/macromanage in real time.
RPGs. I can't make it even halfway through a Final Fantasy game, but a lot of my favorite games are RPG's. (Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, etc.)
Horror games. I love some good horror (especially movies), but when it comes to video games, I just can't. I tried playing Dead Space, but quit after the first 20 minutes because it was so horrifying for me haha. I think I'll just stick to my Let's Play videos on Youtube.
Grand strategy games. I love playing Crusader Kings II -- the intrigue, the RPG-like elements, the diplomacy -- but am fairly terrible at it. I've also loved playing 4X games since the original Civilization but despite the amount of time I've spent playing them, am still just middling. Usually I treat these games as sandbox experiences though, so my lack of skill doesn't faze me too much.
