I feel like I'm missing something when it comes to Neil Gaimen. I read both Stardust and American Gods (my brother's favorite book) and I just didn't like them. No, more than that. I actively hated reading them. Especially American Gods. It just felt disjointed, slow, and uninteresting. I felt like there was a huge piece of the story missing, something that would make it all make sense.

What am I missing? What makes people love this book so much?
