What quality can make you immediately like another person?

I always love when I meet someone with a good handshake. It just gives me such a good impression, I can't explain it!

How they speak. If somebody is smart and articulate, I'm drawn immediately.

Genuine whole hearted smile, laugh or hug. Also, seeing someone do something kind when they think no one is watching. Anonymous kindness.

If I'm at work - eye contact, a smile, a firm handshake. I meet a lot of people through my job, there is nothing worse than a sloppy handshake.

Outside of work, the ability to keep a conversation going. Nothing worse than dead air if you've just been introduced to someone socially.

I'm not sure either, but I've noticed weird downvoting lately too. My guess is it has to do with the recent influx of users not fully understanding how the site works or its culture. Ill give you an upvote to help compensate :)

This is what I was going to say. Eye contact makes you seem interested.

Also, someone who laughs. It makes them much more approachable.

Somebody who's aware of the people around them, in the immediate sense and a broader sense.

My main one is someone who curses, non-aggressively. I think it indicates that they are more casual and relaxed... uptight people are a pain to deal with in any scenario.

For me it happens if the other person is just kind of being there with me in the moment -- NOT if that person is obviously trying to fill the moment with smiling, looking me in the eyes, shaking my hand, asking me a bunch of questions, filling the 'dead air' with articulate 'wit.' Regardless of a person's appearance, if the person is understated in manner, I'm immediately more comfortable and engaged.
