What brought you to Snapzu? How did you find out about this glorious place?

I've been looking for a replacement for reddit for several years, ever since the failings of reddit's moderation system bit me in the ass. Only recently did I learn of a subreddit called "redditalternatives" where I found people advertising snapzu. I snagged an invitation code and I've been logging into both sites ever since.

I'm trying to gently coax friends on reddit to come over here, but most seem content to continue there.

I learned about snapzu from the same subreddit aswell. Idea of new beginning and snapzus automatic cross-post feature are what drew me in.

I found it through Reddit as well. I was just tired of the Reddit and the drama there.

I found it through Reddit and was sick of the hate mongers and childish behavior. When I heard of this place, I checked it out and joined up. I've spent less and less time there but have discovered a few trolls have arrived and are trying to infect the place.

Eh, the thing is, when something's familiar, it's hard to break someone away from what they know. Plus, the content here is slow-moving at the moment - dependent on what / how many tribes you join; your mileage will vary. Adding AskSnapzu to the top bar really got conversations flowing, which is definitely a plus.

As for Reddit, yes, a lot of the underlying issues creeping up are bad - but most of that won't affect the general user in their day-to-day. And, like here, your experience on Reddit changes drastically when you unsub from the circlejerk crapfests, and start subbing to more niche subs that pertain more to your interests. While I don't agree with the direction Reddit is headed, my overall experience there is still a rather pleasant one. I split my time between Reddit, Snapzu, and Voat pretty equally, for the most part.

Got invited by a reddit friend saying it was a place far more friendly than reddit. He however left about a week later believing that the place is ran by people hostile to those who don't speak English after this thread along with a few others I brought over from reddit.

I'm waiting until the admins add some temporary patches to help things along to start recruiting again.

      That explains the exodus...

For my part, it's a similar story, but the friend from Reddit who invited me is the one whose message I'm replying to.

Man I am sad to see that. I would really wish that it wasn't the case. I can understand wanting to limit the language on the users front page. But I really would like to see this updated.

It's the one thing that puts a damper in my Snapzu enthusiasm.

I actually don't remember how I found Snapzu. I think I must have signed up for it after hearing about it on Reddit.

And then, I didn't log on for 10+ months. Emails piled up in one my alternate emails that I rarely used. I came across the Snapzu name again after the recent drama, became impressed with Snapzu's design, and started being active. I dug up my older email, figured out my account name and password, and started posting.

I found Snapzu through reddit. In a post about the old CEO leaving actually. There was a guy talking about different sites he visits and how nice the people are on each of them. Snapzu was said to have the friendliest community, many people agreed with him. So here I am!

I found Snapzu through a Facebook friend that was offering codes, I always wanted to try reddit but never really got around to it, so when he posted i figured i might as well.

You are the only one here as I post this that hasn't said they were leaving Reddit.

I just read all the comments that have been posted at this time and he is still singular in this aspect.

Just after the first reddit meltdown (after the subs got deleted), a friend of mine pointed out a list of invite codes and I used one. Glad I did.

Burnt out by the meanness on reddit. I got trolled in a way I found unforgivable and bailed.

I came with the second Reddit mass Exodus. Not because the moderators shut down the subreddits or because the people were fired but because I was so tired of the memes and jokes in every single comment thread. It seemed like it was making its way into smaller and smaller threads and was just not worth it.

Google search for "reddit alternatives". Was leaving reddit after the admins showed they are perfectly willing to manipulate their entire userbase for personal gain, and, amazingly, barely even got called out for it.

Everyone's pretty much covered why I left...

As for how I got here, I mentioned all the codes someone posted were taken and /u/prismdragon offered me one.

The state of reddit. also that whole "Not a <whole point of the question> but..." type comments. I'm really liking the discourse on this site, people aren't rude for the sake of it and the culture is much more open that reddit's. Though honestly I hate comparing it to reddit because they're two different websites and I feel like an old polish grandpa talking about the old country.

I went on reddit to check out the drama after having been absent for about 6 months, I had been active on a couple of photoediting subs that were fun and interesting, but even there sometimes some toxicity would leak through. Anyway, the first post I saw was reddit alteratives or some such and that was all I needed to get myself over to Snapzu
