Anyone have any tips or advice for applying to Grad School?

Application due dates are starting to rear their ugly heads and it's got me worried. I'm trying to get into an Audiology doctoral program, I have a GPA of 3.4, and GRE cumulative of ~303. I'm just looking for any tips in general on getting my application noticed.

Grad school meetings MUST be boring stuffy events. Just a bunch of professors sitting in a room around a table reading applications (I imagine). Open your request for admission with a short, light and easy to understand joke that is relevant to your field and they will probably let you in just for lightening up the day.
