Last week I short sold Twitter actions when it was announced many people in management quit (or were fired, we can't know for sure). I made a sweet 200 $ in half a day. Out of thin air, with a few clicks online through my online direct broker.
For those who don't know what short selling means, I borrowed stocks that I didn't own to sell them, waited for the price to fall, then bought them back cheaper to give them back, keeping the difference (minus the transaction fees, of course).
