Knowing very little about investment and long term strategies, I'd probably go for one of the big pharmaceutical giants. I think even with financial troubles, they'd get government support to keep going due to research and so on, and they're going to be big players in anti-aging treatments, imo.
Mostly because I think that open source is where the future is heading and they already have a huge head start. And I mean, if it doesn't work out, it's not like I had the money to begin with.
I'll take a gamble and go with OMEX. I could pick up 42,000 shares with the money, and as technology improves, more wrecks are going to be discovered and the cost of salvaging them will go down. The company pays dividends based on the value of the salvage per share, the payouts will either be fantastic or the money will be wasted.
NASA isn't a company, they don't have a publicly traded stock, and if you were to "invest" in them, it would just be adding that $100,000 to your tax form as additional contributions.
If you want to invest in space exploration, you more or less have to invest in the material and fabrication companies as there are no ship launch companies publicly traded.

A robotic company. Automation is going to be huge in the next twenty years. Most jobs we do now will no longer exist by 2035. Robots will do them.
