It really is quite a sight to see the milky way in all its majesty without any light pollution! :D Everyone should see the beauty that's been hiding above our heads at least once in their lifetime! The auroras are also an amazing experience! Watching the skies glow in different colours is pretty breathtaking. There's really nothing quite like it!
A while back a couple of friends and I went to Mexico, unplanned, backpacking and stayed at various hostels. The best trip ever, we met so many interesting and friendly people.

On a road trip once, I stopped on the side of the road to sleep at 2am. I was in the desert about 45 minutes outside of Reno, and it was a new moon.
It was a completely different sky than I was used to. It almost felt alien.

Sleeping in the nude. Walking barefoot on the grass. Hot springs. Lucid dreaming.

Mine was alone in France and Spain for 2 months. Amazing experience!
Alone on the trip? or generally felt like being alone all together? Big difference!
I was on my own. I did meet many people, the vast majority of whom I wouldn't have talked to (or as much) if I was with friends.
Totally get what you were going for, sounds like it was an awesome trip.
Visit London, Prague, Brugge and Amsterdam.
There are too many awesome places to visit and not enough time/money to do it!
