I'm actually using both right now with a little Reddit mixed for my city/state subs.
People are mentioning the people filled with hate over at Voat. I'm really not seeing it, but I do block any sub that I dislike. I find the discussions on politics there refreshing compared to Reddit and some of the askvoat questions have been entertaining. Being a karmawhore on Voat really doesn't accomplish much, it's all about getting comment karma so you have the ability to upvoat/downvoat more.
Even though my history says I signed up a month ago here, I have only been lurking for the past few days. Still trying to figure some stuff out, but I really like the lay out and discussions be had here. I can tell people have a closer connection to each other here. Very polite, also.
