A thousand times, this. If I had a nickel for every time I heard "it doesn't work like it used to!"
You're right, it doesn't. The software design team didn't consult me when they made these changes. Unfortunately, your old software is now obsolete and if you don't adjust your process to the new software you're not going to be able to do your job. My condolences for your loss.
I hear you. It wasn't until the first major death in my family did I realize that saying "I love you" isn't stupid or embarrassing, it's absolutely important. Nowadays, I've become the sappy friend who's always pouring their heart out about how much everyone means to them, haha.
For 15 years, I literally had no clue that there was a stoplight at the 4-way intersection in my hometown. I drove past that thing every single day to get to school and work, got stopped at it countless times, but it took an argument and subsequent drive with a friend for it to finally register.

Not being able to talk about emotions or tough subjects, once I realized life was too short to hold it all in, it was like flicking a switch.
