Now that I know the context, I can see it was meant to be metaphorical (probably), and it really shouldn't have generated as much buzz as it did. But amusing to say the least.

Yeah, it's a shame he didn't feel compelled to clarify the context of his statement until after people started holding him to his promise. One might begin to suspect he was being dishonest from the first.
When I say context, I meant the actual quote. The actual quote is just vague and pithy enough to have wiggle room, whilsaying
