Protests as McDonald's opens in Vatican
A branch of the fast-food chain McDonald's has opened in Vatican City, the seat of the Catholic Church, despite protests from residents and cardinals. The branch opened in a building belonging to the Holy See that rented out rooms to the US giant just metres from St Peter's Square.

Yup,American corporations do what they please all over the world and if the people who live there don't like it,too bad for them.
While sticking to the law, most corporations do what they please regardless if they're American or not. This is capitalism, and it's better than other options.
The protests are directed against the Catholic Church for renting out the property, not against McDonalds.

On the surface, it does seem to run counter to the Church's core principles indeed, but then again they can probably use the steep rent for such prime real estate to help a lot more people in other less expensive places.
