It was nice to finally see Linux being discussed as a desktop choice (within the article I mean, not just in comments!) I do think the fragmentation problem they mentioned about Linux can be overcome with developers supporting their software for just one Linux distro of their choice. Personally I think it makes sense to make it for Debian-based systems since it's a massive ecosystem. If I was a developer I'd support Linux by offering Debian binaries. I agree it gets too complex to do every Linux system out there simultaneously, but choosing ONE and supporting it does count as offering it for Linux.
