Older gamers are less competitive
Any good gamer can kick your ass in an online duel. But only younger gamers want to. It seems the older you are, the less competitive gamers become.

That really doesn't surprise me. PvP tends to attract a much younger crowd, while most of the solid quest groups I've encountered tend to be composed of older players who recognize the necessity of cooperation in order to achieve goals that the best PvPer can't accomplish on their own. That's the sort of thing that comes with experience.
Which is not to say that I won't occasionally crow about my DPS ranking.
