True not all hardware may be able to handle the update. The good thing is you can check right now whether it will on your computer because the Windows 10 reservation program can check for hardware compatibility.
I would have to assume that most hardware that is capable of running Windows 7 will also be capable of running 10. I am sure there is a jump, but I can't fathom them shooting themselves in the foot by creating an OS that needs a tremendous amount of resources to upgrade to.
