Long ago, when I ordered from them for the first time, they included a fridge magnet. I still have it.

I have had an Amazon account for a while, too. On the account page, you can look at every order you have ever placed at Amazon, which is almost like another version of looking at old pictures of yourself. It was fun to see, especially because it reminded me of gifts that I gave different people at different times in my life. Also, I looked back at my early orders, and found a VHS tape I paid $20 for. It got its fair share of use, I know that.

Amazon has come a long way from being just an online book store to being a full fledged services provider. Sometimes I'll just visit the site not really wanting to buy anything but just to browse the stuff they have for sale. Between Prime Pantry and Prime I've eliminated a lot of trips to stores, pre-ordering games and getting them on release day, and now Echo and the little re-order buttons, it's really eliminating a need to ever go to a store because Amazon's prices are equal to or less than retail stores, even when you take the prime subscription into account.

Not only that, it's insanely easy to get an Amazon gift card if you're in any rewards program at all.
