This article is full of hyperbole to drum up fear of government spending.

The massive budget deficits of recent years and projected needs to meet future obligations to retirees will result in a steady increase in federal debt, from less than 80 percent of gross domestic product today to an estimated 181 percent of G.D.P. by 2090.

We have no idea what the federal budget will look like in 2090. The fact they had to project that far out to come up with a scary number is a joke.

There are multiple more examples in this article. I thought the NY Times was supposed to be a "leftist rag", but they have jumped on the federal spending is out of control bandwagon like everyone else in the pro-establisment media. Sad to see they have left honest reporting behind.
