The idea is to give an opportunity for as many people as possible to vote. Not everyone will make it, but at least you gave them a fair chance. It seems wise to promote democracy in a democracy.

      Republic not democracy... /s

In the state of GA we have been able to early vote for almost 2 months, we could vote by mail in September no reason needed just feel out the paperwork to get a ballot mailed to you with free return postage, in October we opened polling stations at each county election office, 2 weeks ago they opened satellite offices at state/county parks, my county had about 10 stations open. That ended Friday and we now must vote on Tuesday. We have ample opportunity to vote if we can't make it on a Tuesday in November. There is no excuse not to use these options if you think Tuesday would burden you.

My google found that most states begin early voting in the two weeks before an election, usually the week that Halloween falls in. Although...

12 states do not allow early voting without an approved reason: Alabama, Connecticut, Deleware, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia.

So perhaps the best bet is to require all states to allow the early voting with no reason needed other than you've already made up your mind.
