Isn't medical marijuana technically the cheap, quick, easy alternative to opioids?

Not really. The analgesic effects of cannabis don't come close to opiates. I live in NorCal and actually grow medical cannabis for a collective. There are members of the collective who claim that they don't do opiates because of the availability of cannabis, and I think that's great. However, my personal experience with back surgery and pain is that cannabis may help me forget about it for a while, but the pain is still there.

Meanwhile, kratom is being banned. People use it to step down off of harder opioids, but if the ban goes through, many people will be back on heroin and pills. Great job, DEA.

It's almost as if the safety, danger, and/or efficacy of drugs aren't considered by the idiots at the DEA when they make decisions. An astute person could look at the situation and almost come to the conclusion that DEA makes decisions based on what pharmaceutical companies tell them to do.

DEA didn't get away with banning kratom. Not yet, anyway.
